What we know about Wonder Valley

What it is

A very large proposed AI data centre park in the Greenview Industrial Gateway near Grande Prairie, pitched at 1.4 GW in its first phase across roughly 7,000 acres, and promoted as potentially the world's largest of its kind.

The off-grid angle

It is planned to run off-grid on natural gas plus geothermal rather than drawing on the public grid. That is one way around the connection bottleneck that stalls most of the queue — but it also moves the emissions and water questions on-site rather than removing them.

Where it actually stands

It sits on the province's major projects registry as an early-stage announcement, not a construction start. We label it Announced for that reason, and we will move it only when there is a shovel or a filed approval to point to.
